Multani Mal Modi College Patiala Organizes Extension Lecture on Literature, Media, and Social Change

The Department of English and Department of Journalism, in collaboration with the Department of Business Management of Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala, successfully organized an extension lecture on the topic, ‘Literature, Media and Social change’ on the occasion of National Management Day. This lecture was delivered by Mr. Harpreet Singh, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of PTC News, PTC Digital and PTC Simran. The event was organized on the occasion of National Management Day.
College Principal Dr. Neeraj Goyal stated, “The theme of ‘Literature, Media, and Social Change’ underscores the powerful influence of literary expression and media in shaping societal values and driving progressive change. This program aimed to inspire students to understand the dynamic relationship between creative expression, media narratives, and their impact on social development and management practices, thereby fostering informed and responsible leadership.”
The speaker was formally introduced by Dr. Vaneet Kaur, Head of the Department of English.
Mr. Harpreet Singh in his informative lecture said that, “Media plays a pivotal role in our society by shaping public opinion, disseminating information, and influencing cultural and social norms. It acts as a catalyst for social change by highlighting issues, fostering awareness, and empowering individuals to make informed decisions, thereby contributing to the development of a progressive and aware society. He motivated the students to engage with the critical ideas of literature and the working of media to understand society in a better way.
The event proceedings were conducted by Dr. Harleen Kaur and Prof. Ravinder Singh. The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. (Lt) Rohit Sachdeva.
